The Multimedia Learning Group (MLG) is dedicated to new theories, cutting-edge algorithms and core technologies for multimedia content analysis, coding and protection in a wide spectrum of next-generation multimedia applications. These technologies are expected to play a crucial role in the further development of digital media industry.
Yonghong Tian
Professor Yonghong Tian is currently a Boya Chair professor at the National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology (NELVT), School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University, China. Dr. Tian received the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, in 2005, and was also a visiting scientist at Department of Computer Science/Engineering, University of Minnesota from Nov. 2009 to Jul. 2010. He is also serving as the Deputy Director General, Division of Electronic Information and Equipment Manufacturing, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. His research interests include machine learning, computer vision, surveillance video analysis and coding, and multimedia big data. He is the author or coauthor of over 110 technical articles in refereed journals and Confs. Dr. Tian is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MULTIMEDIA, and a Young Associate Editor of FRONTIERS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE, a member of the IEEE TCMC-TCSEM Joint Executive Committee in Asia (JECA). He has served as TPC member or OC member on several well-known conferences such as ACM KDD, ACM MM, IEEE ISCAS, IEEE MMSP, and will serve as the program co-chairs of IEEE ICME 2015 and IEEE BigMM 2015. He was the recipient of the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2010; the best performer in the TRECVID content-based copy detection (CCD) task (2010-2011); the top performer in the TRECVID retrospective surveillance event detection (SED) task (2009-2012); the winner of the WikipediaMM task in ImageCLEF 2008. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of ACM, a member of CCF.
Tiejun Huang
Professor Tiejun Huang is a professor with the chair of the department of Computer Science, the director of the Institute of Digital Media Technology, and the vice director of the National Engineering Laboratory of Video Technology, Peking University, Beijing, China. He is also the secretary-general of China Artificial Intelligence Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance (AITISA), and the deputy leader of Expert Working Group in Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation by the Ministry of Education of China. Dr. Huang was a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China in 2014 and the Distinguished Professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program by the Ministry of Education of China in 2015. His research interests include visual information processing (i.e, image recognition and video coding) and neuromorphic computing.
